![]() ![]() We never were near the coast to see what they describe in their tour description, “Kilauea's erupting volcano with molten lava flows into the Pacific Ocean”. The pilot made sure and turned the helicopter so everyone would get a clear view. We did see a few hot spots on the exterior, but were never close enough to even see the opening. When we reached the volcano, we briefly flew by the exterior walls, never making it remotely close to the top to see the pools of lava we were told we would see. Definitely NOT worth the money! We spent the first 45 minutes over dry, desolate land with a less than enthusiastic pilot. We took the Volcano Deluxe Tour and were very disappointed. Just choose a different helicopter company. However, I recommend a tour of the Big Island, the things you see are amazing. I was also not sitting with my girlfriend. ![]() ![]() I would not have went if I had known ahead of time that I wouldn't be sitting with my husband of 33 years. Nor would they listen to us as they put their headsets on early to muffle sound. The stranger sitting between us had tried to change seats with me before we boarded but the staff wouldn't let her. You can't talk in the helicopter and without someone you know sitting next to you there is no way to touch and enjoy the view with. I spent the first 15 minutes trying not to cry (I don't think I was successful). Which I don't know about the rest of the world, but my weight is never true on my license (as the license is good for 8 years). They tell you they are seating you by weight, however no one weighs you, nor do they ask your weight (I presume they got it off our driver's licenses). What they don't tell you! Is that you don't get to sit with your loved one. My husband, myself and a girlfriend took the Deluxe Volcano Tour with Sunshine Helicopters in October. ![]()
